STUDENT COUNCIL NEWSLETTER: OUR AUTUMN EVENTS
Republic Day (29 October): Every year, we celebrate the proclamation of the Turkish Republic in 1923 with a ceremony in the school garden. This year, the drama club is performing a short play about the first years of the Republic, and the school choir is singing marches.
National Tree Planting Day (11 November): The environment club organises tree planting in the forest near our town. Students can join it only with their parents' permission. Each class also looks after a flower bed in the school garden and waters the plants twice a week.
Inter-class Volleyball Tournament (late November): Every class can enter one team.
Teachers' Day (24 November): The music club is giving a concert for our teachers.
We hope everyone can take part in at least one event. Remember: Teamwork makes the dream work!

Our New Life in the Village (by Deniz, 15)
Until last year, my family and I lived in a small flat in a block of flats in İzmir. Then my dad started working from home, so we moved to my grandmother's village near Ödemiş. Now we live in a detached stone house with a big garden, and my grandmother lives with us. Life is quieter here.
At first, life wasn't easy. I missed my friends a lot, and I felt lonely. Our internet connection was slow, so my dad and I often argued about using it. There was also a lot of housework and garden work, and I thought it was unfair because my little sister never helped.
Then my mum had an idea: a family meeting every Sunday evening. We listened to each other calmly and made a weekly chore list. Now everyone, even my sister, has a job. My dad uses the internet for work in the mornings, and I use it for my homework in the evenings. My old friends visit me some weekends, and we pick fruit in the garden together.
Our family is closer now. As my grandmother says, "Every cloud has a silver lining."

Are You Ready for Flying Taxis?
Imagine a school morning in 2045. You get into a self-driving car, but there is no driver. The car uses cameras, sensors and digital maps, and it chooses the safest way to your school. On the way, you can read a book or chat with your friends because the car drives itself.
Above the city, electric air taxis are flying from one rooftop to another. They take off and land like helicopters, but they are designed to be quieter and cleaner. A journey that takes an hour by car in heavy traffic may take only fifteen minutes by air taxi.
Today, driverless taxis already carry passengers in some cities, and several companies are testing flying taxis. However, there are still important questions. Who is responsible when a self-driving car has an accident? Can hackers take control of these vehicles? Will tickets be too expensive for most people? Engineers believe the technology will be ready in the future, but they say one thing clearly: safety must come first.
